ISABELLE SJÖVALL

PHD STUDENT

I am passionate about understanding how the brain reacts to the built environment and how our surroundings impact humans psychologically and physiologically. My curiosity began at age 4 when I sorted my teddy bears depending on what colour they were, noting how it had an impact on me. Today, many years later, I have more than 15 + years of experience in advanced projects within architecture, design and the property industry. My previous studies were carried out at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London, Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy, and at the Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden. I am also the author of two books: Neurodesign, published in 2016, and Designfulness, published in 2020. It is my belief that conscious design choices can help us build better future environments to impact health, sustainability, performance and wellbeing.
